Back to DLE Club

What the club keeps

The club keeps a random player id and your recent daily scores on your device. When you play, its server keeps them under that id: your scores and their days, the boards you’re on, and the name and board names you pick. Boards show names and scores. Their API also provides a one-way moderation reference for hiding and reporting; it never exposes the underlying player id or a device secret key. A result link carries the scores you chose to share. Vercel (hosting) and Neon (the database) handle the requests that make this work.

Signing in is up to you. A game’s Sign in button takes you to dleclub.com to continue with Google, then back to the game. Google’s script loads when its sign-in button is shown. The club keeps a one-way hash of your account’s id, with the sign-in provider, to recognise you on another device. It keeps no email, name or picture from Google. Connecting your Amountle account also keeps a hash of its account id, after Supabase verifies that you’re signed in there. Accounts are never joined by email. Google’s privacy policy covers what Google sees when you sign in.

When you sign in, your game progress also syncs through the club’s server: finished days, streaks, personal bests, collections and the progress each game needs to continue on another device. Halfsies keeps extras you unlocked by watching a video. Photos, replays, ghosts, recorded laps and paid purchases aren’t included. Amountle’s own progress continues to use its Amountle account. Guest progress stays on the device until you sign in. Vercel and Neon handle the synced snapshots.

Links between games carry a short-lived, one-use code. They don’t include your device’s secret key. “Sign out” makes that site a new guest and leaves your account’s scores and progress on the server. Each site keeps its own sign-in; signing out on one site doesn’t sign you out on another.

The iOS app and deleting your account

The DLE Club iOS app stores its device credential in the iOS Keychain. Sign in with Apple is optional; the server verifies Apple's identity token and stores a one-way account hash. Before opening a game, the app asks to share your club player and progress with that game using a short-lived, single-use code. Hosted games cannot access the app's native plugins.

In the app, open You and choose “Delete account and club data” to permanently remove your club profile, daily scores, badges, board memberships, connected identities and synced progress, including data from linked devices. For a connected Apple account, confirm with Apple so its sign-in authorization can be revoked. Separate Amountle accounts and local game saves are not deleted by this club action. Sign-out alone does not delete data.

Playing inside Discord

Opening DLE Club inside Discord links your Discord account to your club scores. The club keeps your Discord id, display name and avatar, and which channel you opened it in, to show that channel’s players and daily progress. It does not read your chat messages.

Discord also asks permission to update your activity status. If you allow it, your profile can show the game you’re playing, such as “Playing Amountle” under DLE Club. Discord’s activity privacy settings control who sees it. You can decline this permission and still play. Playing on the ordinary website does not update your Discord status. Discord’s privacy policy covers Discord’s use of this information.

Analytics

What it countsWhen it runs
Vercel Web AnalyticsPage views, by kind of page (the homepage, the club board, a friends board, a result). No cookies, nothing that tells you apart. For everyone, except with Global Privacy Control or after “No thanks”.
Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft ClarityVisits and taps: shares, links to the games, Ko-fi and Discord, starting or joining a friends board, adding a result. Each keeps its own cookie with a random id, to recognise a return visit. In the EU and EEA, the UK and Switzerland, only after you choose “Allow”. Elsewhere, on unless you say no. Never with Global Privacy Control.

Which side of that line you’re on comes from your device’s time zone; nothing is looked up. If the time zone can’t be read, you’re asked.

Google Analytics and Clarity aren’t set up yet, so for now only Vercel’s page views are counted.

Gauntlet progress measurements

When analytics is allowed by your device’s privacy choice and region, the club also measures gauntlet starts, next-game clicks, arrivals, transfer problems and whether a finished score is on file. A random measurement label lasts one puzzle day and follows links between games. It is separate from your account and cannot sign anyone in. These measurements stay with the club’s hosting and database providers; Google and Microsoft do not receive them. The records contain game names and times, with no account id, name, email, full URL or score value. Records are normally removed after 35 days when new measurements arrive. Global Privacy Control and “No thanks” stop these measurements too.

What never goes to them

Your player id, any name, a friends board’s code or name, your scores, pasted share messages, the page’s full address or where you came from. Google’s ad storage, ad personalisation and Google signals are off, and none of this turns ads on.

Google Analytics and Clarity run in a separate, empty frame that’s sent only the events above. Clarity sees that frame, not the club’s pages, so it records no replay of your play. Their requests still show your IP address and browser to Google and Microsoft, as any request does.

Changing your mind

, here and at the foot of every page, says whether analytics is on and lets you choose again. “No thanks” stops it on the page at once, removes the analytics frame and its cookies on dleclub.com, and is kept on this device. It can’t delete what was already sent, or cookies on Google’s or Microsoft’s own sites. Your player id and scores are separate, and stay.
